Swim (60 mins)

Our swim sessions are held in private hire lanes at Parkside Pool (opposite Parker’s Piece). Our taster sessions are free for anyone interested in joining CUTriC and ALL abilities are welcome! Please tell Reception you are with CUTriC when you arrive to this session and you will be let through to the changing room. After Taster Week, we will allocate weekly slots to our members who will be charged at a discounted rate at the end of each term.

Turbo (90 mins)

Our turbo sessions are held in the Pavilion at Trinity College Old Field Sports Ground on Grange Road. Your bike will be hooked to a turbo (making it stationary) and we will spin for just over an hour. As always, everyone with a roadworthy bike is welcome! Our sessions in Taster Week are free and will cost £X from then on, charged at the end of each term.

Brick (90 mins)

This session will compromise of both turbo and running round the Old Field Sports Ground. Age old debate whether ‘Brick’ is named such because it is a merger of ‘Bike/Run’ OR because of how your legs feel on the second run lap. Remember to bring both your bike and your trainers to this session.

Long Ride (120 mins)

This will be a group ride, adaptable to all abilities. Tom Bedford will be leading the group. We will ride for about 2-3 hours with a café stop in the middle or at the end. Please bring a roadworthy bike and know we will be cycling for over an hour. You MUST bring your helmet (and lights) on this ride and, if possible, a puncture repair kit.

Easy Ride

This will be a group ride, open to all abilities but primarily aimed at those with less confidence cycling in groups. Tom Bedford will be leading the group. Rides will range from 15 to 25 miles with a café stop at the end. Please bring a roadworthy bike and know we will be cycling for over an hour. You MUST bring your helmet (and lights) on this ride and, if possible, a puncture repair kit.

Track Session (60 mins)

Each week we'll run track sessions on a Thursday evening over at Wilberforce Road Track. Aimed at improving speed, these will involve a good warm up, between 30-45 minutes of speedwork (sessions will vary from high intensity, short reps such as 15x400m, or longer tempo style reps such as 6x1200m). For anyone looking for a speedy run-leg, we'd highly encourage attendance at these sessions - only once a week! They'll be split up based on triathletes' abilities (with a beginners, intermediate, and advanced option each week) so there'll be flexibility to switch things up based on how fresh you're feeling.

Strength & Conditioning (60 mins)

A great supplement to your training, this session will be lead by a Sports Coach at the USC and focus on core stability and leg strength. You will be taught lots of exercises that can be done without any equipment to help prevent injury over the season. We do this session joint with the Hareys. Sign up will be released on Fridays and each member will be charged £1 per session at the end of term.

Social Run (60 mins)

Each Monday we will have a social run with ability groups suited to a variety of running abilities. We meet outside Patisserie Valerie on bridge street and will typically run for between 45 minutes to an hour depending on the different ability groups. Any Hi-vis gear is recommended during months where the runs will be conducted in darker conditions.

Steady Run (60 mins)

Obviously steady running mileage is the bedrock of a good runner, but as a triathlete there is less emphasis on the requirements to maintain a strong aerobic base, given that a lot of hours will be put into work on the bike and in the pool as well. As such, steady runs are not carried out by tri club per se, but will leave from St John's Plodge on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday mornings at 7.20am for between about 6-8 miles, or if you choose to go with the 'easy runners' group you can get between 3-5 miles done all in time to shower, get some breakfast and head to a 9am!

Tea Run (60 mins)

Finally, a nice social and very very relaxed plod takes place every Friday evening at 5:30pm from St John's Plodge finishing up at a different college each week for some homemade (or often Sainsbury's bought) tea, fruit squash, cake and biscuits.
